Pups weren’t sent to Barkingburgh without an invitation. Once there, they were selected by one of the eight baseball clubs for membership, and placed in that club’s Junior Pack. The selection process wasn’t straightforward. There were factors that made a pup’s eventual club predictable, but not always.
If a pup was invited by a particular club to Barkingburgh, it was more likely they’d end up in that club. If one or more dogs of a pup’s family pack had been in a club that could be a predictor, too. Personality and disposition were also a consideration. Bone Club, for example, liked their mutts on the wild side.
The details of the closed door process was known only to current and former coaches. I do believe it was a shindy affair.
