Generally speaking, of course, cats loved adventure, jewels, pretty things and romance. The pragmatic coyotes’ thoughts were always on the temporal world. The foxes loved freedom. Goats were spiritual creatures whose hearts longed to serve. Wolves were bitter and envious killers incapable of love. Mice, so determined to survive, thought much like the coyotes. Dogs? We loved baseball, the natural world, things of the body and mind. Rabbits? Rabbits were ridiculous creatures that I never understood. With so many of them, their habit of interrupting made it impossible to have a conversation.
The species pursuits, loves and passions led to misunderstandings and conflicts. We dogs, with simple wants and desires, were never to blame.
