The Barkingburgh Jug was a prize awarded to the winner of the top baseball tournament. Each species assembled a pack, or team, to compete. It was not held every season, rather, it was held when the traditional leader of the loose association of Barkingburgh baseball clubs decided. As the unquestioned inventors of the game, no one disputed this honor belonged to the dogs.
The dogs and coyotes were the traditional favorites to win. However, other species had won on occasion.
